St. Peter Evangelical

Lutheran Church

The design of this quilt block by Debbie LaBuhn, was inspired by the Luther’s Rose.  “Red – We live because Jesus shed his blood for us. White – We have peace from our faith. Blue – We have hope that we will be with Jesus in heaven one day.”

Construction of St Peter began with the laying of the foundation, which began in the spring of 1896. Construction continued through the fall and on February 7, 1897, the first service was held.

When entering the church, on the right are framed pictures of the ministers that have served St. Peter from 1880 until 2010. The first minister was from Custer, Ohio.

The church has many stained glass windows, which were donated by some of its members. A number of the donations were made as memorials for lost loved ones.

St. Peter has had four different organs in its 137 year history.

More information about the church can be found at stpeterfairhaven.org

Hanging the block

Dedicated church members planned how to hang the block. The aluminum composite block is glued to a frame of maple wood. The wood is attached to the siding with screws and with a white finished trim. Charlie, the workman with the support pole designed this process.

Proud moment
